Unhappy Tranny ?

My tranny shifts in and out of OD on the highway w/no load, when the pedal is push a little. Downshifts to fast, then im out of power range. Is that normal? It will do the same in drive shift down 2nd. It also shifts slow into OD . I'm going to try to reset the computer. Anyone have any ideals. Could it be the BDL preasure cyl. Also wondering if you could disconnect the kickdown, or adjust. thanks

Not normal at all. My 47RE tranny takes full throttle, at hwy speeds to down shift. Don't know the pressure BD cylinder.

My friend has a transmission that James built that could be close to what you have, no billet shafts in it, he uses full throttle every day or at least every time I see him drive it. I have never seen him power brake it. Just full throttle, hammer down. My poor stock transmission could not take it. Jim

I would not disconnect the kickdown( throttle lever) That is how the transmission knows how much pressure to apply to clutch packs, shift points, ect. I dont remember what the base pressure is at idle, 55 or what ever. Any way if you disconnect the throttle lever on the transmission, your clutches may suffer, along with your pocket book. For what ever it is worth Jim
