Trac bar options

So here is the deal. My trac bar must be done by now. I have a 4" lift with 36" tires on it. I get a NASTY death wobble when I am driving at about 30mph. I want this fixed. I just replaced the tranny, and injectiono pump, so I am on a fix my truck high right now. I went shopping around for a track bar for a while, and there are a lot of options. I came to one conclusion.. I am building my own. I plan on taking the bar I have right now, and chopping the end off it. I will then weld on a Rubicon Express heim ontot the end of it. I can weld some brackets onto the stock mounting location, and install the new bar...

Here is my current question. I can get a stock replacement one right now for 150 from Kragen. I can use this as a temporary fix until Ihave time to make my new one. Do you guys think this is worth doing?

BTW, the part # for the Napa and Kragen parts are:

DS1413

Thanks
dIma

OK, no responses yet... How about this question:

How is the moog trac bar? I founf one from Summit racing for 150.00 This is a temp fix until I build my own trac bar from the stock one. Would the moog bar hold up for a few months? I rarely drive the truck anymore.

dIma,

Why don't you try here! For the $$$ you'll spend on a temporary fix why not have a permanent one for just a little more $$$?

If you must go with a replacement track bar any one of them will do. I've tried Moog, Stock, Napa.... They all have a ball joint and will wear out prematurely thanks to DC's poor engineering. I think the Napa one comes with a lifetime warranty, but who wants to continually have to fiddle with such a thing when a jointless alternative exists?

solid steel

i agree, solid steel is a good option. I just bought the track bar mount from solid steel and an 03 OEM track bar from chrysler, I have yet to install it, if you are lifted, the solid steel adjustable track bar in the link above is a good option. I am not lifted nor do I plan to lift so I just bought the 03 OEM track bar.

I bet you'll be really p***ed off when you finish it and the death wobble comes back. The rubber bushing on the axle end is almost as bad as the ball joint on the frame end. It's also too short, so the axle won't center at ride height.

By them time you buy an OEM track bar, figure in additional material for brackets, and the RE style joint, you could buy a Thuren bar and still come out at least $50-60 ahead of any other option....

I vote for Thuren's bar. I am very happy with it. I took off a good Luke's Link when I put the Thuren bar on and I noticed a big difference. I believe that he makes a bar for your lift.

www.solidsteel.biz is the answer to all steering problems, rubber bushings in the track bar exceeds OEM specs, doesnt tetegraph noise, no clunking, doesnt wear out, thats why Dodge changed the ball joint on the trackbar in 03, Solidsteels TB is adjustable if you want to lift and it clears all diff covers. I talked to them yesterday, new product comming out, one which we all need and new website is going up with all the new info, should be comming online this week they said.

I installed my solid steel TBK bracket and the 03 track bar, made an amazing difference. Highly recommended.
