I don't know. I do not do performance transmissions, so I have not bought one yet. I called my sales rep for parts for a 4L60E I was working on and asked if they had a multidisc billet converter for my truck. The answer was that they did not stock one but could get it out of Chicago, it was multidisc ( I am pretty sure he said tripple disc) and it was billet, for $400.00. Picture #1 is not billet by my standards, so if he sends me one of them I will send it right back. I am sure that you get what you pay for. If you want 1200 horse power a $400.00 converter will not work. With my mods, a $400.00 billet multidisc converter would work fine. I was just asking for future reference, but now you have got my curiosity going. I am going to call him in the morning and find out more about this converter ie. stall speed, # of discs, billet or not, part #, warranty, core charge or not, Price again ( sometimes they get confused) and anything else I think of between now and morning.
I will let you know what I find out.

Pic #1 in the previous post is a billet cover and a pretty nice single clutch converter. It is rated at 550 ft lbs.Pic #2 in the previous post is a triple clutch rated at 1000 ft lbs. Picture #3 below is what a stock converter cover looks like. The stock pads twist and give, distorting the cover where the clutch locks up,making the surface distorted resulting in clutch slippage. That is the reason for the ring on the single disc billet,it works as a heat sink and it does not distort because it is all one piece that the bolts thread into.

I called the sales rep. Here is what I was told.
It is a 3 disc convertor
It is a billet convertor
The stall speed is 1200
It costs me $400.00 plus shipping
He has never sold one yet and does not know what it looks like.
I am going to Arizona in a couple weeks, when I get back I am going to buy one for my truck and see what it is. I will post again when I get it and let you know what I think. I will also take pictures of it.

The 550ft/lbs is just the OEM diesel replacement CR-70.... Look at the CR-70 S1, rated 750 ft lbs and that is on stock line pressures; throw a Trans-Go at them and they are good for 950ft lbs. Those CR-70 S3, S4, and S5's would be good for over 1300ft lbs with a Trans-Go. I just wish they could price them more competitively for us. The S1 is a good deal for the budget oriented CTD owner that doesn't plan on bombing over 400hp and with all the required hard parts and even wear items can cost total of what a triple disc alone would cost...

this is the exact unit in my truck. the stall speed seems a little high actually. it works great though. it wieghs about 70 lbs so i used a suncoast flexplate as well. another 500 bucks. it has been pulling 10000 lb feed trailers and 23000 lbs of tractor and it hasnt missed a beat. i even mashed it down with the drag comp on 5x5 and the backhoe on it just to see if i could break the input shaft or the converter and it just kept on pulling. i paid 600 for mine i think but it is exactly the one in the pictures #2. i was told it was bought from sonnax but it dont matter. witha one yr unlimited you break it we fix it warranty....i couldnt be happier. and it didnt cost me 5 grand like a suncoast or dtt..but we dont wanna get started on all that..its been beat to death already
