Throttle problem

I just got a '02 with the H.O. engine and there is a weird problem I was wondering about.I still have a little waranty left so I want to figure it out.Anyway, when you shift gears and then give it some throttle it wont do anything,no acceleration and then a few seconds later it kicks in and it pulls hard.It does not do this all the time but it is pretty often. One guy told me it might be the potentiometer (tps).Any ideas? Thanks

thats could be it. you need a fuel presure guage on the thing. you could have a bad lift pump and possible vp44 crapin out. theres a port on your vp where you can check presure with a maunul guage.

Here's the reset procedure for the APPS (newfangled TPS found in the 24 valve trucks)

https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...n&onlynewfaq=1

Worth a shot, won't hurt anything, and only costs a few minutes of your time,
with a big beer break in the middle.

Had the same problem, turned out to be the VP. The dealer just put another one on yesterday, all is ok now.

Sounds like your VP may be dying. Have you checked the codes?

White smoke after warmup is most likely due to slipped timing.

Timing isn't adjustable in the VP44 (well, electronically it is), so I'd say your injection pump is dead or dying.

It is only smoking when it is cold.It goes away when it gets warm. And it started today right after I did the APPS adjustment. So,I don't really know whats up.It only has 49k on it.

How cold is cold?

I only see the white smoke when it's down around freezing or colder.

It has been up to 80 today. And it was only off for about a hour.So really its not cold at all, just the coolant temp isn't up yet.It wasn't doing this before I made the adjustment. So maybe it backfired on me! So anyway,I will be taking it to the dealer I got it from and have them check it out in a day or so.
