thought i had a handle on this...

put a fp guage on 02 w/ intank pump. guage reading 5-7.5 and doesnt budge. always took to heart less than 10psi=weak lift pump. a buddy at cols. diesel told me he remembered reading that was around normal for intank pump. the mechanic i took my stuff to, who worked for international also said cummins service manual said 5 to be norm too, ***?? i read that after intank retrofit, chrysler said its not so much pressure as it is fuel volume. any1 w/ 2nd 24v w/ intank pump and fuel guage reading this psi or anyone know for sure about this subject?? any and all help is appreciated.

thast sounds about right for the pathetic in tank pump. I was very dissapointed when they changed my pump to the intank. it will not keep up with any fuel upgrades over stock.

Intank pump here. Ranges from 9 at idle to 5 at WOT. Been that way for about 40,000 miles. Any positive pressure at the inlet to the VP is enough to supply it's needs. If hp mods cause the pressure to drop to 0 then you will have trouble.

depending on your vp if it has been remaned with the heavier diaphram it will live down to 3psi. if it has the stock pump on it don't expect it to last too long with less than 5psi

If you get rid of the banjo fittings in the fuel system the pressure will most likely be fine. They really kill the flow.
