Things I learned at -34 C stuck in a snow drift

I learned that my electronically controlled vacuum switch freezes up and shuts off my 4 wheel drive (4 low and 4 high). THAT was fun!!! Snow up to running boards and no 4wd. After sitting there for a while, thinking what could be the issue, I unplugged the switch and wow, my 4 wheel drive is back!!!

Man she's a cold one tonight!!! Good news though, when I was clearing snow last night, I cleared the neighbors driveway also and tonight he came over with a 40 of Crown Royal. That and I found out he has his gas fitting papers so I'm putting natural gas and a furnace in the garage for cheap!!!

You Reap What You Sow. The Good Book was right again... there have been so many things in my life lately that proves that He is in control.

Funny how often that is proven true yet so many folks choose to try other ways to live.

It was my 4 low switch. I got it from an Mazda RX7 and when you flip the switch, it interrupts the vacuum flow to the front diff and then you can put it in low range but have 2 wheel drive. Great for backing heavy trailers on hard surfaces, etc

Hey Stan, you're pretty funny. The snow did not look THAT deep, but with it being windswept, it is REALLY hard, not hard enough to drive on, but to drive through was REALLY tough. There was a 6 degree temp drop from Saskatoon to the track about 1.5 miles away. I was out at the motorcycle ice track to see how much work we had to clear things up.

Here's one, its an older bike and has many things working against it, but the old girl really gets out there and gets the job done. Many of the newer and lighter bikes have felt the wrath of the 650. I will not pass a slower bike on the straightaway either. Anyone can hold a throttle open, its all in the corners, yet my 125 friends say "its because you have a 650 that you're so fast".

You guys should come out west. Presently, its 5C, clear and sunny. Should be 8C today, and 11C on Sunday. I love Calgary winters!

glad it worked out for you. Unfortunately it's not always true about You Reap What You Sow, there's people out there that will take advantage of you.

Yes, that is very true and I have had people take advantage of me (and I guard against that now). But I also believe that deep down, "most" people are decent human beings...

Snow? Yeah we had that last month. First time in years. 9 inches in the foothills but only 1 inch in the valley (Las Vegas) shut down the entire town. It's been in the 60'sF mostly lately and plenty of sun. Diesel's almost the same price as gas now even! Can't figure that out but I'm not complaining. Good luck in that white stuff.
