Talk from Cummins today
Today I was at Cummins South and picking up a new lift pump. we had a discussion on these things, and they said part of the problem of failing lift pumps was fuel wasnt filtered enough before the pump and they install a inline filter after the tank and before the pump to keep debris and dirt out. They felt by relocating it was of no use. also I keep reading more and more about the heat from the motor actually killing the electronics on the early vp's which was the cause of alot of the problems, which the rebuilt ones have new electronics much better than before. So' now the cummins place always stresses changing the in line filter often and have seen less failing pumps. I dont know' I think everybodys right, but we still see failing vp's even with pushers and relocates. So what gives, I think adequite flow is a must for cooling and that is true of alot of things. I wonder if the failing LP's because of trash causing less fuel to cool the pump is the Big Problem. I would like to know how many people out there have reliable systems with lp's in the same place but with pre-filters and still have a good IP. Blue Chip has a strong selling point--I dont think they have a relocate kit.
