syn. oil

Well, I've just passed the 20,000 mile stone and I'm going to switch to a synthitic oil. I've pretty much decided to go with Amsoil. What do you folks think? I was speaking with John Scott a while back, but haven't been able to get in touch with him. Are there any other dealers or reps out there? I'm in Philadelphia, Pa. John also mentioned a secondary filter? Any thoughts or ideas on them?

Re:syn. oil

There are lots of threads here about synth oil, if you do a search. Here's what I think: I've been using Amsoil for the last 35k miles or so, and I like it. If you are going to extend your drain intervals beyond 15-18k miles, then you will need the dual filter set-up. I don't have one yet, but I am thinking about it for down the road. I use stratapore filters from Geno's. Tom at Black Mountain Diesel is an Amsoil dealer, I sure that he can help you out. He has a website where you can get all the contact info. Good Luck!!

Let me know if you can't find a local dealer. I'll order and have it shipped right to your house. You can also go to the the AMSOIL website and sign up to be a preferred customer for a small fee and order everything yourself.

Joel

Ditto on the above "preferred customer" suggestion. I have been a dealer for 15+ years, but only for personal use.

15-40 HDDM here. Year round. In almost everything I own. Would fell confident in doing so w/today's technology, but don't see enough cost savings, long term, to justify. My situation.
