Question Stuck throttle, bad APPS?? HELP!

I think my APPS might be bad, or can they get frozen up in cold weather?

Here's what happened:

Started my truck this evening in 13 degree weather, started quick and fine as it always does, helps that I had it plugged in all day.

It idled for 10-15 minutes while I let it warm up, and I cleaned the ice off the windows, then I drove off.

I got about 5 miles down the road, going 60 mph, and my throttle stuck on me. At first it felt like the cruise was on because I lifted my foot off of the gas pedal to slow down and the pedal didn't come up with my foot, and the engine stayed at the same rpm's, as if I still had my foot on it.

So, after making sure the cruise wasn't on, I tried getting my foot under the pedal a bit and pulling up on it, no luck. So then I stepped on the pedal hoping to free it up and it felt really stiff. Also, now it was wide open

I had to push in the clutch, and shut the engine off with the key because it was revving up all the way, and coast to a stop
Luckily, I was able to roll right into a gas station.

I popped the hood and went right to where the throttle cable meets the APPS and tried to move it by hand and almost couldn't! It was real stiff and when I did get it to move it would jump around instead of moving freely.

So, I forced it all the way back to where it should be for idle, hopped in and started the truck, started just fine, idled just fine. BUT as soon as I stepped down a bit on the gas pedal, it sprang out to wide open throttle!!

I did this a few times, then decided to just slowly drive back home without touching the gas, idling in 2nd or 3rd gear. Took 1/2 hour to go 5 miles but I made it.

THEN, when I got home, I tried stepping on the gas just to see what would happen, and everything worked fine

It was dark, cold and I was late to where I was going so I didn't look into it any further, I just hopped in the wife's car and got going.

I'm guessing a problem with the APPS,

Anybody ever have a similar problem? Could it be something other than the APPS?

I will do an APPS reset tomorrow just for the heck of it.

Thanks for any and all replies!
Matt

Just had a thought, the APPS is just a sensor, so am I right in assuming that it would not be able to physically move anything?

Maybe I have a problem with my cruise control system...?

Its not the APPS

turns out my throttle cable is frozen up. Unhooked the throttle cable, and cant move it by hand, and the arm on the APPS unit move freely.

Got her running now, can move the throttle all i want and the engine responds just like it should

Gonna let her run awhile with the hood closed to see if it thaws out, would be nice if I could drive over to my shop where I could change it indoors and somewhat warm.

The cable could be broken though, so I have a new cable on order with local dodge dealer, be in tomorrow $49.xx total

Thanks
matt
