Stuck in Drive
Hello guys!
Need some sugestions. For some reason my truck wont shift out of drive when you pull up to a stop sign. It stays in drive (or 3rd gear, whatever you want to call it) until I get up to speed again and then the converter locks up and it will shift on in to overdrive. Pulling it down into 1st wont do anything either unless I put it in neutral, and then slap it in low and apply slight throttle. I can get it to go into 1st that way but that is the only way. It will shift just fine once I get it into 1st gear but as soon as I stop again,, its stuck in drive.
I have never had any problems with it in the past. It has 62000 miles on it now. No mods what-so-ever other than the BHAF.
The transmission does not slip or anything like that. It has been working fine until yesterday. (as fine as the stock transmission can be anyway)
Anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this?
I am not changing to a different tranny unless this one is shot. I just cant see that it is shot already.

Mine started out in second when I first bgt it (used). Would only go into 1st manually.
Can't remember name of the part that needed replacing but it's a common problem, assuming yours is the same thing, and was an easy fix by dealer...covered by warrantee!

governor psi transducer and solenoid come to mind, but usually you can still achieve manual low when taking off from a stop. DRB diagnosis or even a psi gauge in the gov psi test port would help you find this.
