stuck in first gear

Greeting to all from NW Montana. 99 2500 24v A/T 4 door long bed 155k. my problem..shes stuck in 1st gear, sometimes if I rev her up to about 3k and let off she start shifting right again, then when I stop it starts all over again, I can fix almost anything but auto trans have my stumped...hoping this is something small...thanks for any help....Harleybrad .........O&^o

I think I found the problem...speed sensor..picking one up monday, will post results.

mine did this turned out it was the throttle valve sticking

(i left a burr on the tv when i put the shift kit in)

Well I'll skip the derogatory Harley comments since you are from Montana which makes you ok in my book....my "diag-guess-is" would be that you have failed to adjust your kickdown band and you are now going to find the strut link laying on top of your valve body. If the speed sensor doesn't do anything for you (which I'm thinking it won't) perform the adjustment procedure for the kickdown band. IF the adjuster never "tightens" as it should, but rather just keeps turning into the case I'll let you know where to go from there.
