starter won't shut off...

Bad contacts? Went to shut truck off today and the starter kept going. I had only driven about a mile since I started it before I killed it. I am guessing it ran non-stop since I started it, almost 3-4 minutes. I ended up pulling all of the fuses to try and stop it, when that wouldn't work, I yanked the cables off the battery, that did work. It was extremely hot and smoking when I got it shut down. Any ideas?

You need to rnr the starter and install contacts, but if it were mine I would put a new one in it. Sounds like you heated it up pretty good.

texasaggie2005 Bad contacts?

Yes, the contacts weld themselves together and wont release so the starter keeps engaged/running.

One other thing to check. Look the positive cable, and the wire that engages the starter. Make sure the insulation isn't rubbed through, and the wires aren't touching. Ran into that problem on one of the Mack trucks at work.
