Get a 10mm gear wrench, way easier than a ratchet, faster than a box end wrench.

I agree with Dr Evil! Save yourself some $$$ and just do the contacts. It's a super easy job and you'll get another 194k out of it! I think mine failed around 134k if I remember right.

Those bolts are tight on there. I had to put a piece of 2x4 on a jack to get one of the bolts off

The top one is the real beach to get out. I went through the top of the motor bay, very long extension, u-joint and a 1/2"drive impact gun. Took it out no problem. You can even reverse the process to get the bolt started on the new one - just start - do NOT tighten with the impact gun. That you gotta do from underneath.

Cheers!

starter

I have had to re and re starter on my truck a number of times. 2x for starter and 2 more replacing crankshaft position sensor. I have tried on a hoist, but find it much easier with the truck on the ground lying on a creeper. I undo the top bolt first, than the lower two. If you don't loosen the bottom bolts, you can crack the top (awkward to reach one) bolt and then twiddle it loose with your fingers. Lower bolts are easy to reach. 10 mm box wrench works fine for me although I did have to use a pipe for leverage as the 10mm is a bit short and the bolts are tight.
