Squeek on 01' QC Ram
Squeek on 01' QC Ram
I've had my 01' for about 5 months and when i first bought it sometimes i'd get a weird squeeking that sounds like a loose body mount or something. It sounds like its coming from the front left side of the truck. and it usually makes the noise when i go over bumps. I checked the body mounts and they seemed fine. and i asked they guy i bought it from and he said the dealership fixed it once already. wondering if anyone else has had this noise and what it was. dont want to hassle with taking it a dealership. any ideas would be helpful.

I've got it too. I tore the rear quad cab door apart to attempt to find it. One gentleman on the TDR said he has a similar problem with the Nerf Bar mounts on his making noise. I checked mine but don't think that was the problem. If you find the squeak, let me know.

This is going to sound funny but get some lithium greese and spray the pivot joints on the linkage for the transmission. There is a shaft that runs from the body to the trans make shure you lube both ends of this shaft well. You can tell if this is the problem by shifting into 2nd or 1st and hit some bumps if it quits that is it. As far as i know there is no fix for this problem.
Hope this helps :-.

Re:Squeek on 01' QC Ram
I have it and I narrowed mine down to track bar bushings or a body mount.
Take a garden hose and spray the underside of your truck on the drivers side. Especially spray body mount and track bar ends. Take it for a drive right after and I'll bet it is gone.
I am pretty sure mine is my left fwd cab mount.
Or wet one area at a time till it is gone, then you will know for sure what is squeeking. Once the water dries- the squeek comes back though..

glad i'm not the only one with this noise. I have noticed that it only does it sometimes, its not a constant from day to day. it also seems with the weather cooling off it is doing it more often. Thanks for the replies, i'll work on figuring it out and let you all know if i get it solved.

Might not be the noise your looking for, but the quad doors do move ever so slightly when driving, as do the front doors also. They will squeak on the door rubbers and in the cold weather the front doors can rub the windshield moulding making noise also. Lubrication will get rid of the noise. Fred
Re:Squeek on 01' QC Ram
I had the squeek going over bumps. Took awhile to find.
It was the automatic transmission shift linkage bushings on the shaft that runs between the truck frame and transmission.
Finally was able to recreate the squeek by rocking the truck side to side while parked with engine off. Spray lube on the
bushings cured the squeek.

This is the same thing i was talking about, from what i understand it is quite common. I found that this needs lube about every 3 months or so depending on driveing conditions.

Re:Squeek on 01' QC Ram
sprayed some lube on my linkage like MLR1 said a little while ago and took it for a drive... heard the noise twice but it was really really soft, and it wasn't making it when it had before. hopefully thats the fix. we'll see if it lasts. Thanks for the advice. hopefully that has solved the annoying problem.
Re:Squeek on 01' QC Ram
Well I had mine and fixed both. Back quad door noise comes the plastic door panel at the bottom of the door,To repair mark out bottom of door panel with a pencil remove panel, use electrician's tape on the door to act as a barrier between the panel and the door to stop it from squeaking. The noise in front is comeing from the lower steering column. If you look under the dash you can see the crush tube of the column, take some spray grease (fluid film etc.) and spray it inside up towards the steering wheel and down towards the box this should fix it good luck.
Re:Squeek on 01' QC Ram

Re:Squeek on 01' QC Ram
I got the squeak too. Like Spark Chaser if it's wet underneath, no squeak. I tried lubricating the auto shift linkage, but that wasn't it. Makes me nutz! >
Re:Squeek on 01' QC Ram
Well the spray lube worked for me until it rained pretty good and i'm guessing it washed off. now the squeek is back. I'll give the lithium grease a try as soon as i get around to it.
