squeaky metallic noise

Started today, sounds like the metallic vibration squeak like when you pull a small lawnmower trailer down a bumpy road. Braking, accellerating, etc does nothing. Sounds like its coming from the drivers side front wheel or under the door. Any ideas?

either brakes worn out and dragging or bad wheel bearings.

if it changes sounds or stops when turning left or right it's wheel bearings, if not then brake stops are contacting the rotor

It doesn't do anything when I brake, and I just had them done about 3 months ago. Not any big change when turning either...

My last set of pads went pretty quick. Ok, maybe not as quick as 3 months. But when the did, It would not make noise while braking. Only when driving down the road. Of course the pad dug it to the rotors very deeply AND only on the left side. The right pads had a 1/4 of life left. Intill you do a visual inspection, I wouldn't cross it off the list of "the usual suspects". Huh....wasn't that a great movie? Diffinately one of my fav's.

well, its not a scratchy sound, more like a rattling squeak. nothing has an effect on it, it sounds like something loose, but its really loud and i cant find the problem anywhere.

Check your front end components (ujoints, etc) for excessive heat after driving for a while. Also, make sure there is not a rock or something wedged in the brake components.

Also check the u-joints in the front driveshaft. My front shaft was replaced under warranty at 36,000 miles.

I too have just heard the same problem with my truck, and when I find it (and I will) I'll post it. Its gotta be the most annoying sound I ever heard. Well, next to a Honda at least.

Mine was doing that and it was the anti rattle shim that had worked loose and slid across and was scraping on the inside of the rim, it had worn a nice groove into my aluminum rim! I actually pulled it out without removing the tire, as the hole in the rim lined up nicely with the caliper

Yep, same squeak squeak noise as I roll down the road. Replaced front driver hub thinking the bearings were going out and had uneven tire wear. Lubed the heck out of everything in the front end and made sure all is tight. It went away for awhile but now I hear it again. Seems to be at slow speeds and anoys the heck out of me. Truck is at brake check now....maybe they can find something.
