Tartarus,
I have never seen nor heard of ANY Champion filter containing cardboard endcaps.

Re:Split topic: Oil Filters
Sometimes I'm glad I can't see webshots from work.
I was going to check it out from home, but I'll pass now.
Oh, oil filters.
Right now I let the dealership change my oil for me.
No worries if ever a problem crops up and they blame the oil or filter.
When I start doing my own (soon), it'll be nothing but Fleetguard for me.
Nuff said.

Re:Split topic: Oil Filters
;D Over here ordering oil and filter at Cummins Austria is the cheapest way to get an oil and filter change. ;D
It's less than a third for using the stuff Cummins sells me for my engine no. than going for some aftermarket filter and an not approved (API-Class) oil.
Under warranty I'd let the dealer do it since this gives you the proof that it wasn't your fault. Then let the dealer argument with DC or whomever, but you've got your butt saved.
Just my OPINION

Re:Split topic: Oil Filters
On Champion's paper backing plates -- I seen what I seen what I seen what I seen. What more can I say? If I see it again, I'll take a photo, too. In the mean time, visit the oil filter review sites -- those that have tested Super-Tech don't have much good to say about them, other than the price. A couple note the paper backing plates. But buy what you like. It's a semi-free world. . . .

Re:Split topic: Oil Filters
As long as ya'll are still talking about filters, how about the NAPA Gold? Any info on those? I've been running them for as long as I've been driving, but I've yet to see anything pop up here about them. Are they good? Bad? Thanks!

alpine: would we glad or sad if we knew how much a lof @cummins cost over there? ;D >

I don't know whether you'd be glad or sad- maybe you'd pity me.
The filter is @ 9US$/pc, but the FRAM is only 35 US$/pc.
Valvoline Cummins Premium Blue is around US$ 2.5/liter. Other oil usually starts around 10-12US$/liter.
