Re:Spicer rear end

they are the same company just different names. or they might be two different companies that are owned by one. something like that. I believe the spicer is the lighter duty of the two.
DM01

Re:Spicer rear end

Dana/Spicer is the same company. Your truck has a 60/70 hybrid rear. All in all, still better than the AA diffs in the new rigs.

MHO

Like BIGK says.
Dana is a large corporation with many "brand" names.

Spicer-Driveline parts (called Dana's), Victor Reinz-Gaskets, Wix-Filtration etc.

--Justin

Re:Spicer rear end

The diff in the front of your truck is a Spicer/Dana HD60F and the one in the back is a Spicer/Dana HD70 with an automatic and a S/D 80 with the manual transmission-most 3500's have 80's either way. The differences are the 60/70/80 have different ring gear sizes which get larger as the series number rises, axle tube sizes vary within each series as per customer requirements and requests. Spline numbers will vary between years, models of trucks, transmissions and engine options within manufacturers. Axle tubes also vary in length ie; 3500 cab chassis tubes and axles are shorter than regular duallies with a box-splines are interchangable but the lengths are different. Spring mounts differ as well as per brand and application due to frame widths, suspension design and spring widths (leaf). Most of the covers/gaskets are interchangable within a series, seals are a different matter because of differences in the axle tubes-thickness/diameter. Only 2500 gassers have D60's in the rear and HD44F's in the front. This probably only confuses the issue but maybe it will help. PK
