Slipping Clutch???

I have noticed lately when I take off in either 1st or 2nd gear I sometimes have a light clunk in the drive train. Feels kinda like there is a lot of play in the drive line and then it catches and drives fine. I have checked the drive shaft and u-joints and they are "tight" for an 01 in my opinion.
It doesn't happen all the time. If I let out on the clutch without pushing the go pedal and let it start that way and then give it fuel it seems to happen more often. I am wondering if this is the clutch slipping or possibly something else. I don't notice it at any other times except taking of or just after a shift and then increased acceleration. I have never felt a slipping clutch in my years of driving one. I have never been that hard on them to get it to slip I guess. Any advice is appreciated.

Doubt it's a slipping clutch. My clutch just started slipping and it only happens in 5th or 6th around 1700 RPM when I've got the power to her. the revs will go sky high all of a sudden and it's not going any faster.

When your clutch starts to slip, you will know it immediately.

You really notice it when accelerating hard in 5th gear.
