showing codes
I was away on a short trip in 95 degree weather, with a 2000 lb camper on board, (air on), while climbing large hills at about 60 mph I got a dead pedal 4 times in 3 days, truck slowed to 34-40 mph then plugged along. Truck was running a little hot as well. I have a dealer installed in tank fuel pump, an I am running an edge EZ, no gauges as of yet,( I know I need them ) I show codes p 1693, p 0216, p 0217.
p 0217 is the running hot one, p 0216, Is this the culprit of running low fuel pressure?
And p 1693 ?? It says in the OB codes DTC detected in the companion mode.
Any help out there would be great.
Thank you

I'm new here so I hope I am threading correctly...
I'm no expert but I am having some of the same problems. Here is what I found. Hope you are sitting down... according to this site and others I have spoken with, 0216 indicates the VP44 injector pump has failed (aprox 2200.00 in Canada.) Well that’s the bad news. 1693 is just telling you there are other codes in the companion module (ECM... engine control module) The 1693 code comes from the PCM... power train control module. I have a friend with the fancy $6000.00 OBDII analyzer so it reads all codes from both modules. As I have read here you can purchase a less expensive analyzer that only reads codes from the PCM. Then, depending what it says, you may need the more expensive diagnostic analyzer to obtain other codes.
What I really want to know is how difficult is it to replace the VP44??? I have worked on gasoline engines for over 25 years (as a hobbyist not a professional). I am very capable and have plenty of the right tools. Are there any special procedures or tricks that I should be aware of?? I simply am not paying $2200.00 Canadian to replace a part I can purchase for $1095.00 US.
(Canadian dollar is very strong these days)
