started running extremely rough while going down the road. acts like it not getting enough fuel. has a lot a of dark smoke coming out the exhaust. Its done it before but only last a short time and runs fine for a few weeks. this time it continues to run rough. checked for codes and it showed P0216. It is a 2001, 2500.

 

check your fuel pressure if your lift pump is out it can give the p0216 code also if you have good psi your injecter pump is probably going out. p0216 is a timing problem in the pump .I have seen them run as long as 40k miles with that code, but if it wont go away your looking at $1000-1500 to fix it
