runaway cummins

Well as it says it did it to me. Comin up a hill about 2100 rpm makin some noise, let off of the stop sign ahead and all the sudden *** my throttle was stuck. so thinking fast what to do while trying to stop, i stabed the throttle 3 time to full throttle and it finally let off. got home and checked the throttle linkage, it worked properly. then later on i was going to the store and it happened again but came off with 1 stab. I noticed something a little funny once i was in 4th gear. the throttle is twice as stiff at half throttle. I need help with this one guys.

I dont know what it is but this ruck is really starting to push all the right buttons on me. Ive had this truck for 6 months and put almost 8 grand into this truck, fixin edit and its still stock.

There is a recall on this. Call your dealer.

Stop driving your truck with this condition!

As for your other problems, sorry to hear this, however did you take it for a pre-purchase inspection from a reputable technician? It's probably the best $100 or so I've ever spent, and it gave many good ideas what to expect down the road - or maybe that it wasn't the right truck for me to buy.

There was a recall on this for 24v's? How am i supposed to check if the cable is frayed? its inside a plastic tube.

Anyways, so i riged up a double tension spring setup so it will pull the cable back into position. Havent got a chance to try it out yet but ill post the outcome tomarrow.

I might be looking for a 12v soon if this truck gives me 1 more problem.

Might remove the cover on the TPS. Mine frayed right on that end. Easy to see. Easy to replace. The frayed cable keeps the cable from sliding in the housing causing all the grief.

ok so the cable your talking about is thi small cable under the the 1/8" stainless rod. Yah theres no visible damage.

It happened again, this time it was stuck for about 1/2 mile at 2200 rpm. and my spring repair failed miserably.

If there is no visible problem, carefully disconnect it and see if there is any resistance you can feel by moving it manually. It should slide with little resistance.

If you need a new one they're about $40.

The dealer can run your VIN # and see if you are affected by a recall.

It's free.

My bad D2, i didnt realize that that the cover slides up onto the bar. i found the cable and tis trashed. looks like a birdnest. i ordered a new replacement and made a real temp cable for now.

I will check to see if my truck was on the recall list. at least this repair was only 50 bucks. Thanks guys for helping me out. relieved a bunch of stress.

Glad you're back in business!

Hang in there, we sometimes have to get through a few lumps before we can enjoy our new rigs...
