Revving engine taking off

My girlfriend can't stop taking off without giving the truck a shot of fuel like her Ford Ranger gas-pot. She takes off in second and it is a 6 speed. It's not terrible but just wondering how many years it's taking off my poor clutch?

i abuse the heck out of my clutch...its stock and holding up prety well to the power i am making with the mods listed below. i have done some hard launches...and some real hard 4x4 rocking to get out of some mud and i was revving high and pretty much dumping the clutch.

as long as she is not revving out second gear and really holding the clutch halfway and slipping it...your clutch will be fine

Don't talk tough dude. She loves my truck and I can't get her out of it. I don't mind too much cause there is something about a tiny girl driving around in a huge unit. Plus I can see it (and her)from a different angle than the drivers seat which is cool as well.

I even got her shifting down while revving the engine up to match the driveshaft speed. She gets a lot of looks when she pulls that off.

Not talking tough, just asking a simple question. It's scary as all get out when my gf drives, so I do.

My wife is 4'11". She loaned her car to her daughter on the same day she needed to drive me to the airport back in May, 1999. She did the same thing as korney's girlfriend -- stepped down on the foot-feed as she let up on the clutch. It took off on her so fast that she almost rear-ended the vehicle in front of her. Her second mistake was to step on the brake (maybe it was more of a stomp). When the diesel's torque kicked in and launched her a second time, she realized how powerful the truck was. She dropped me off at the airport, managed to drive home safely, parked it in the garage, and never got behind the wheel again.

When I started looking for a replacement truck last January, she made me get an automatic – OK, she strongly suggested that it should have an automatic and mentioned something about withholding favors and cutting my spending budget if it didn’t. I figured that if she can drive a diesel powered school bus with an automatic, she should be able to drive my truck. Besides, it gets quite cold up north here at night…

why is she riding the clutch to take off? they sound WAY cooler when you lug it down against the idle real good and it goes "chug chug chug" real loud through the exhaust before it gets going

I know all about it..............

I let my GF drive the truck yesterday, she had to go on some errand. She had never driven it before, I checked the oil, started it up and left it for her, started walking away thinking I don't want to see this happening............ She gets in backs out of the parking space nice and easy and then the truck lurches and jumps down the street tires grab and slip grab and slip as she is off and on the throttle way to quick not used to the low end torque.......

I was so nervous until she got back, later I let her drive us out to dinner and she had gotten the hang of the thing by then pretty well.

I'll agree, hot girl in a nice truck makes both the truck and the girl look better.

my truck looks real good alone...if i could just get me a cute lil girl to drive it now!

i actually had a fine girl drive it once on a road trip...i was on 48 hours of no sleep and didnt feel safe behind the wheel so my buddy's girl who was freezing in his jeep with the top off decided to ride with me, and i MADE her drive it. She was good on geting it going but couldnt for the life of her find 5th gear. I helped her the first time and i went to sleep. Woke up about 10 minutes from home in one piece. too bad it was my buddy's girl eh?

i am at the point now where my friends beg me to drive the beast so i tell them they can but they have to do a fly-by so i can hear the rumble from outside. Its so kool to see the truck coming and hear a loud whooooooosh of air...then as the exit pipe passes by all i get is a defeaning rumble of the exhaust end of business!

Then it would be even louder when someone else is driving as well.
