Reprogramming 02 ECM

I have a 2002 and several years ago the ECM got messed up on it . Got it fixed and it thinks it is a 2001 truck. I can not get the oil pressure gauge to work properly. As soon as the truck is turned on it reads pressure, never changes on the gauge when running or not. I have read that there is a difference in how the guage is read between 2002 and 2001 trucks, don't know if this is true or not. I would like the truck computer to think it is a 2002 again. How is the best way to go about making this happen?

Can a dealer reflash it to a 2002?
I know a smarty can, but how can I get the 2002 programming?

Any and all suggestions would be great.

Thanks for your help.

Try a 2001 sending unit. Maybe they are different.

I got a new sending unit. And have been going to put it in, just been slow. Didn't know if there was any truth to a difference in a 2001 and 2002 in how it reads?

Seems I read somewhere that the 2001 goes basicly straight to the gauge and the 2002 goes through the ecm? I may have misread this, or been misinformed.

Don't know about the difference between the 01 and 02, but i know there are differences in the earlier years. I had one that went whacking and dinged all the time, The year earlier truck didn't have the ding feature in the sender. Took them apart to confirm that. That ended the constant boing , boin, boing! That was on a '98. Put in the new one and see what ya got.

I can tell you from experienc that I don't trust even , or especially the dealer to mess with the ECM. They fried my ECM trying to reflash it and would not stand good on it. $1000 bucks later a rural mechanic fixed it, but it still shows a mismatch of VIN's.

2001 reads through the ECM also I had an issue with my oil pressure gage not reading and the new ecm fixed that
