replacing injection pump

I have a 99 cummins 4x4 and I need to replace the injection pump. Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to change the pump? Are any special tools needed? I need my truck ASAP and the shops around here can't work on it for several days. Thanks.

Its not that hard about 2 hours. You will need a small puller and at least get the Haynes service manual. Cummins barring tool and some metric crows feet make the job easier. Pm me if you need any specifics. Tim

If you pull the front cvr repace the fr-seal (Where th crank comes out) use a good grade RTV on the cvr(no gskt) ...inspect the vibration dampner for sighns of shifting ,,and thats about it

Also check around the hub of the damper for cracks.

The new or rebuilt pump comes with the o ring on it, that is the only gasket.

If I remember correctly you will want to get the air horn out of the way so pick up a couple air horn/grid heater gaskets just in case..........Larry
