Removing MAP and IAT
Removing MAP and IAT
What size socket is used to remove these?? Seems I remember reading here 22mm. Are both sensors the same size?? Reason I ask is I have to go buy a socket and I need to get these things off tonight so I can take them down to the Cummins dealer tomorrow.
Thanks for the help!

1-1/4" needed to pull the MAP.
13/16" for the IAT.
Part numbers for the IAT:
Cummins PN 3408345
Dodge PN 05014197AA
MAP sensor will vary depending on year. You can also give the Cummins dealer your engine serial number and they can look the number up for you.

I cleaned the MAP and put it back in but it still threw the P0237 code. So, I ordered a new MAP and since I had read a few posts on here about the IAT causing problems, I figured what the hey, I just got the truck last Saturday so I figured I would start replacing things that gave me issues. Thanks for the tip on the sizes, the MAP sensor actually wound up being 1 1/16. I did have to get the pig tail for the new sensor though. It is amazing how much the *********** marks parts up! I found the local Cummins dealership where I live and got my parts for the same price as on the net, plus I got to get some scopp from their service guys while I was at it!!

My truck was showing the error code P0237 which says low voltage for the MAP sensor. I tried cleaning it but it continued to throw the code. The new version of the MAP sensor has a different end on it thus requiring the pigtail. The Cummins part number is 3104228 and costs around 11 bucks. You can get it here http://www.hoeslidiesel.com or at a Cummins dealership. Don't go to the *********** as they get almost 50 bucks for the pigtail alone.
Went looking for an inch and a quarter
Boy... learned my lesson tonight. Thought I was just going to take it off and clean it, ended up breaking the plug housing on the sensor....
Heads UP, if your going to try this for the first time, just replace the sensor. Have one IN HAND before you start.
I'll post back after I've driven the truck a few days to see how a new one worked out. However, the only place I could find one was my sorta local dealer, and it cost $35. Everyone else would have to order it and upwards of two weeks to deliver.
