Hey folks-
Having problems on my 99 cummins auto; the OD switch in the shift lever has wore out, & rarely works. Wanting to relocate it to a toggle switch on the dash. They shoulda stayed the way my 94 is....
Anyone know which wires they are, & can I cut them out of the loom & route them to a toggle switch??

They are likely the same color wires in a 01. I'll look through my service manual later tonight when I get home for you.

 

The switch for OD is a momentary on switch, not an on/off switch. The switch in the shifter is replaceable. The wire colors are orange/white and black/light green.

 

Seems to me the 98 gasser we had, had 2 black wires coming up through the lever.

Any off/momentary on toggle or rocker switch will do, or a push button switch. If you're really cheap, you can just bare the ends of the wires and touch them together for a second.
