Rear brake question...

When I use the brakes to stop at a stop sign or something, I will let off the brake pedal and it feels like the rear brakes are still holding. Then when I go to take off, somtimes I'll hear the right rear brake dragging. I'm not sure what would cause this, but I went to take the drum off, and it is rusted on pretty good. How do you guys get your rusted drums off? Does anybody have an idea of what could be causing my original problem? Thanks

I had the exact same thing happen, turned out to be an axle seal leak. The axle flange was leaking very slowly out on to the brake parts and caused them to stick or drag slightly. It is a pain to get the drum off but of you are careful with a mallet they will come off. If you have the same problem I had you will know it when the drum comes off, everything will be very dirty and sticky.

Adjust the shoes so they will clear the lip worn into the drum (if present). You can give the drum some raps with a hammer to try and break it free. Spray some WD40 or penetrating oil on the hub pilot. Or, put a couple lug nuts on the studs (without the tires on) and run it in first or second and step on the brakes, will most likely dislodge them. Do this with your rear axle on jack stands, not just one side.
