Angry Rant on Napa filters

This is the first time i have reused a used filter. Let me explain. I thought my fuel pressure problems could be due to a plugged filter. Fuel quality here on Guam isn't the greatest. Anyway I went to the Cummins shop up the road for a Fleetguard. They don't have the filters, would take over two weeks to get them. He did give me a Napa part number, so I went there. Napa Gold, looks similar to what I use. I put it in and my pressure DROPPED. I fell 2-3 psi across the board, idle cruise and WOT. So I have a dying pump. In an effort to keep my pressures up I put back in the used Fleetguad stratapore.

Now here is a question for y'all. Will Napa give a refund on a used filter?

If the fuel is that bad it probably wouuldnt be a bad idea to run another inline filter. Racor or similar.

I would give it a few miles. I had the same problem with a Fleetgaurd filter even. The pressure dropped and got erratic after a change but after I drove it for a while the pressure came back up. All I can determine is I had some air trapped in the system.

I went driving a while and the air was purged and the pressure never came back up.

Whats wrong with the filter? Maybe Napa filters are a bit finer than the Fleetguard ones. I have a Napa filter in my truck and its been in there for 9 months. I get 14 psi at idle.

NAPA filter here and no problems, performance drop off, or MPG change.

Aside from the lower pressure the was excessive material used to seal the filter media to the endcaps. I wasn't impressed with it at all. Oh, and the fact that it cost twice as much as the Feetguard Stratapore.

You're kidding, right?

Would YOU pay for an unwrapped, fuel soaked fuel filter that NAPA handed you across the counter???

I see your point. Oh well, I was just mad that it cost me a little over 20 bucks for it. My Fleetguard usually costs me half of that.

Reminds me of the time when i went to some autoparts place to buy a oil filter for a Ford. I grabbed it off the shelf and went to the counter and for some reason i opened the box after the girl rang it up and what did i see? It had been used. There was black oil all around the threads and gasket. I tipped it over on the counter and a few drops of black oil came out so i think whoever bought it tried to install it but it was the wrong one. I told the manager and he said "it wasnt used it was just the wrong one" I told him "would you use this on your car?" He then shugged his shoulders and threw it in the trashcan and got me a new one. Never got any parts from there again except for washer fluid. They always have dirt cheap prices on that stuff there.
