SixPack47,<br><br>Like Commatoze stated, the lever has detents that holds it in the closed position. Some have put a wire through the lever and secured it so it could not move unless you remove the wire. The lever doesn't hang down, it is kind of protected.<br><br>I'll have to admit, I don't off road other that logging trails, however if you have a 4x4 the front differential protects the pan pretty good.
