quick change oil drain plugs
Re:quick change oil drain plugs
I use the EZ-Drain from Geno's. It works great. I used the ball valve lever (or fingertouch) model years ago, and while very nice, it took forever to drain, and the "streamers" towards the end of the drain got blown all over the concrete driveway with the slightest breeze. The hose with the EZ-Drain can be directed right into a bucket and I often leave mine drain overnight without worry of messing the drive. I just have to leave a note over the wheel. "DO NOT START!" :

I use the "fingertouch" from Geno's and like it. It should be modified in order to drain all the oil out of the bottom of the pan, which is part of the reason why there are "streamers" at the end of the drain time.

I have the Finger Touch (Fumoto) from Geno's. I modified it so all the oil drains out of the pan. Here are some pictures.

This is a drawing of the way the pan is constructed on my truck.

I am really pleased with this drain plug and would recommend it to everyone. It make changing oil just a flick of the lever!
Just make sure you make the same modifications so all the oil drains out of the pan.

I have the E-Z Drain also which I like very much, but I wish you could drain the last quart of oil it keeps in the pan. I wanted to modify it like Big Bob did to his Fumoto, but that's not possible. . . the oil would just run right out of your pan open or closed

Re:quick change oil drain plugs
Big Bob, whats to stop a stick or rock from hitting the lever (for lack of a better desciption) and opening the valve and letting the oil drain out? ???. Is there a cap or something that goes on it to prevent disaster? I like the way you modified it to get all the oil out though ;D......

I guess anything's possible, and if you used the truck offroad, the fingertouch may not be the best choice as it hangs down from the oil pan. The lever is spring loaded and is in a detent which prevents it from be actuated by accident. I had Fumoto valve on a 1986 Thunderbird Turbocoupe and it worked great the years I owned it, and I changed the oil in that thing every 2000 miles. There is no cap on the valve. The EZ-Change is very low profile and is capped except for draining.
