Question on automatice shifting

Doing this for a friend, and I am no 24V guy.

99 Ext cab 4X4 Automatic, right at 200K, he just purchased truck at a great price ( could part it out and make some serious $$ )

Anyway, truck runs great, recent VP, but the following do not work:

Speedo ( not sure about trip, will have to check )

ABS light is on.

At first I thought it was probably the rear axle sensor, since I am told that also provides speed sense. Now that I think about it, if it was the rear sensor, wouldn't the 47RE not be shifting correctly?

Thanks for any advise.

there is a speed sensor on the tranny on 99. cheap and easy to replace. if you have the ABS light on try with it. or better do a scan check at one dealer or technician before spent your money!

Don't fool with driving when ABS light is on. Can cause a no brake scenario......depending on the cause.
Pull the ABS relay, in fuse box under the hood, till you can look into the cause for the light. Disconnects the entire system.
Much safer, just in case!!
