Is it the pump or something else?!

Okay, I wrote about my LP acting up, with the pressure guage needle jumping around, and then I changed my fuel filter to see if it was from a clogged filter, and when I tried to start up after that, the pump only clicked and wouldn't come on. I assumed it had died and purchased a replacement Campaign pump.

I installed the pump and it took forever to get the air bled out. I finally got started by cracking lines 3 and 4, and cranking when the pump got the pressure up over 10-12 psi. Got started, yeah! Had to do some other things so shut it down for the day.

Today, started it and got 13 psi. Backed out of the driveway and started down the hill, looked at the gauge and it reads 0!!!!

Parked again, shut it off, bumped the engine to listen for the pump, got nothing but a couple of clicks, no pump running sound!

Is there any other reason, electrical perhaps, that two pumps would do the same thing? I've heard others say they bought a pump dead out of the box, but I just can't believe that is the case this time since the symptoms are the same.

In fact, yesterday, after I got the truck started briefly and then it died, fuel squirted out of 3 and 4, and then when I tried again I got the clicks. I thought it was because fuel got onto something, so separated the wiring harness for the fuel heater, let it air for awhile. When I put it back together I got pressure again when I bumped it, and was able to start.

It's got to be something electrical, but what?

I had two bad pumps out of the box, that's why I have a holley running as a backup. Not to say your problem is not electrical.

You can check the voltage going to the pump with a meter. It will help to have someone lend a hand. You unplug the lift pump harness and have someone bump the starter while you check for voltage.
