Protecting the block heater plug?

I am looking for ideas on protecting the plug for the block heater. Once in a while I get ice or water run off the hood and it shorts out the gfi on the outdoor circuit. Have you made a mod for this? Any ideas? Thanks.

Just don't let it hang out when plugged in open the hood and put it behind the grille and set the hood down i know the cord is short but it works for me.

Another thing you could try is a wrap piece of aluminum foil over the plug connections to shed the water off of it cheap and easy.

How is the snow down there in redford you guys down there seem to be getting more than me up here this year that is a good thing right ??

Cut an old tennis ball in half. Cut a slit on the remaining half and push the plug thru it so it cups over the plug and pull it down to the plug. It hangs down and sheds water off.

My set up is actually like Joe Diesels above, just down by the license plate.

We have had little snow this year. I think we have only plowed the drive and sidewalk twice.

We got 5/6" of snow tuesday night and when I went out at 10am my hood was nearly clear.... Headlights, grill and bumper covered in ice... wich included the plug and cord.

I like both ideas, the tennis ball is quick but my lab may think different. Thanks for the replies. Anyone else?

Before I set up this Marinco plug in the bumper, I used to just plug it in and then stuff it back in the foglight hole to keep it protected.
