Problem with front axel locking in

I have a 1999 2500 ton with a dana 65 front axel. The problem I am Having is when I put it into 4 wheel drive the it seems to be fine but when i turn the wheels eather right or left it binds up. I replaced the air lines that were cracked and this didn't seem to help. I was wondering if it is the actuater motor that is messed up. I would appriciate any help. Thanks

What kind of terrain are you binding up on?
If its dry cement, hard dirt of anything like that, its totally normal.
In 4 hi or low you either need to be going straight or in a terrain that allows the tires to turn/slip seperatly.. or you will get that binding affect like something is about to break.

It has happened in the dirt and in the snow. It seems that the front end isn't completely splined together.

Even in slippery and dirt road conditons mine will tend to walk a little when turning hard. I try not to turn the wheels all the way to lock when I am in 4x4 just to go easy on the parts.

If you have replaced the vacuum lines to the actuator and your 4WD light comes on you should be locked in. A good shop should be able to tell you if your 4x4 is working correctly also.
