Price For Injector Pump Rebuild

My Injector Pump is on its way out, called one place to see what they would charge to rebuild mine and that I didn't want a remanufactured one from them. They wanted to charge me the same price as one that had already been rebuilt, which was $1095.00. I know the rebuild kit cost approx. $250.00, surely there's not that much in labor. Am I just stuck with paying full price weather I have mine rebuilt or buy a remanufactured pump. Anyone have anybody that rebuilds these for less than the remaned price. Not to mention Iv'e only had this truck for 7 months and put 12,000 miles on it.

Thanks, Ronnie

that really sucks to be that close to being in warranty and have it go out. I have not heard of anyone having theirs rebuilt for less

I too when it is time would like to have my own pump rebuilt. I am just kinda funny that way, the main reason for me is that I know where my pump has been. When you buy an off the shelf reman who knows where it has been, or what has been done to it. I called several of the shops in my part of the country that are capable of a VP44 rebuild and I found one that would actually give me a detailed list of what was done to the pump and only fix what is wrong with the unit. Evidently after talking to this tech, who seemed to know his stuff said that if you have one of the later units the electronics hardly ever fail because these are the upgraded ones, therefore most of the failures of these units are other problems so he told me the cost to rebuild would be less. He has NO set price and the cost is determined on what is wrong with the pump.

Take a look at your Warranty Information booklet and this thread on that other site: http://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=171690

Perhaps at 107,000 miles you're VP44 is not out of warranty.
