power steering pump

power steering pump

wanted to know if the power steering pump goin out would cause the abs light to come on. havent had time to go to the dealer to have the computer scanned

Not likely. If the pump went out your brake pedal and your steering wheel would be really tough to use.

ABS light can be a number of things. Bad sensor, gunked up tone ring, the brake valve assembly under the master cylinder.

Likely abs sensor. Any of the parts stores will loan/rent a scanner. No need to involve the dealer.

you would certainly know if your pump went out, it willl be un drivable, mine went out over the summer and it took every ounce of strength i had to just park the truck to wait for a tow.

thanks for the info. i jus started noticing that when i was sittin still i cant turn the wheel lock to lock without moving forward or backward

hmmm it may be on its way out them mine shattered and pieces of the gear were lodged in the pump not allowing it to work at all, as I said real fun. I ended up replacing the pump steering box and lines not cheap
