Can you use amirror and get the 0 470 506 ??? number off the vp44.
Sounds like the pump is not advancing as it should with the engine.
Some of the pumps have a brass sleeve for the advance piston it wears, and the piston gets in a bind instead of sliding.

 

I have an 05 THAT IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND HAVE HAD INTO THE SHOP 9 TIME IN 5 MONTHS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM THEY HAVE CHANGED SEVERAL THINGS BUT PROBLEM STILL EXSIST. LOVE TO KNOW IF AND HOW THEY SOVELED YOURS.

You might get a better response in the 3rd gen forum,
fuel delivery in the 2nd gen is totally different than the 3rd gen.

Might need to move the thread, or start over...

He sold his 2001 and got the 2005.
He was speaking of a 24valve when he started the thread, over a year ago.
