Post your VP-44/LP history!!!
What's your history with these?
Perhaps something like:
Year/Model truck
Mileage at problem(s)
Costs
Replacements
Why? Did you have a clogged filter etc.........could something preventative been done?
Other: Thoughts? Comments? Whatever......

I'll go first.....as I'm having issues with this right now.
'01 Reg Cab Dodge Ram
104,000 LP bad ...replaced w/ napa LP in stock location and Vulcan big line kit.
104,500 (currently) Dead pedal, in the process of shopping for VP's.
Have yet to have any codes, (no 216 code) rough idle after trucks warmed up, occasional deadpedal, mostly at 35 mph/1400 rpms.
Location: Eastern South Dakota
Time of year: Late summer
4000 outside of warranty.

I would go to the dealer or call up Dodge corporate.........my parents have an 02 Tahoe, at like 3k pass the 40k mile warranty on the tranny, it dropped...........called up be'n politically correct with the idea of a past and very unhappy customer............dealer came and flatbeaded to the dealership, replaced and called when it was ready.......$0
But yes add whatever necessary. Everybody is always talking about their pumps etc go'n out so I'm just trying to see when and what may be additional causes to this problem and if it really could just be avoided somehow

2001.5/QC 2500 SRW
68,000
Cost unknown, DC warranty
LP & VP44
Cause unknown, filter changed properly
Aprox 7-10th day of 90 plus degree heat in our reigon, I like to think that this helped to kill my pump.

Mileage: ~ 112K miles
Cost: ~$2500, reman'd VP and new LP, repaired by Cummins
Cause: Lift Pump (My fuel pressure was bouncing up and down but I received some "not so good" advice (I won't say from where ) that it was just air in the line and not a sign of a failing LP).
Location: Southern California
Time of year: IIRC it was Summer.

I could also imagine that mine was simply taken out by a failing LP (hence your three). I wouldn't know cause I'm still the only Lame guy on DTR without gauges.
Sooner or later I guess? I better get with the program, my in service + 5 yr date is this December, no more freebies.

My napa pump cost in the neighbor hood of $180...and comes w/ a 1 yr warranty. I believe it's a carter pump...sold by NAPA. New.
I have confronted my Dodge dealer on the 4k over warranty. He told me I was SOL, and I didnt feel like I had much ground to stand on arguing about it. I know that pump was damaged before the 100K mark.....but I have no way of proving it.

Just a thought... If you bought the truck from the dealer you do have a leg to stand on... the rules can be bent... I have seen it done and have had it done. You are thier customer.... and someday you may want a new truck.. They should treat you right. Let them know what you think. TALK TO THE PERSON WHO IS IN CHARGE AND CAN GET THINGS DONE... not his/her... "NO" people out front.

Had a scare with the IP about 5k miles ago... ended up being the fuel filter. I hope I didnt jinx myself
Fanatic about my fuel additive.... it works for me!
