Poll.....I killed my KDP.

With all the discussions and stories surrounding the timing gear case alignment dowel pin (KDP) in 1st and 2nd Gen. trucks I am curious to see who has actually investigated their truck and who has not. I personally plan to pull my cover when the weather warms up a bit to see if I have the updated case with the step in the bore which prevents the dowl from vibrating out....my engine build date was late 2002. To date I have only seen 1 post of a 2nd Gen with the issue. I invite any stories or comments regarding your opinion or experience with this potential problem.....

I believe anything mid 2001 or newer you are safe. I know for a fact that 99.9% of 02's did not have the issue. I believe I have seen one case of an 02 having it but it was a very late 01 build date.

I have a buddy that is a Dodge supertech and he said 2002 and up was safe.

I recently tabbed the KDP in my 2002 because it did not have the updated case.

You're welcome, I posted my finding in a thread recently and included some pictures. I had read a while back about a truck that was damaged by the KDP and the truck was a 2002, so that prompted me to check my truck out and I am glad I did.
