Plugging in. How do I tell if it is working?

With temps in the 30's, and plugged in for 8 hours, the WTS light should come on only for an instant. I'd say you need to check the heater and it's wiring. Also if my house is relatively "quiet" with no big appliances on, the little wheel in the meter will spin appreciably faster whenl I plug the heater in.

I only plug mine in when it gets down in mid 30's like Blue said. And thats not often.

Any recommendations on how to clean the corrosion and gunk off the plug? Mine's pretty bad and isn't working right now.

I found out why mine wasn't working. I tripped a ground fault plug. Plugged it into a different outlet and the WTS was on for only a split second. Thanks for the help yall.

The question is, why was it tripping your gfi??? You should probably leave it on the GFI outlet.......
