Pitman Shaft Seals

I noticed that i am starting to leak from the piman seal. any one replace theirs? i have heard that these boxes dont take well to a seal replacement. are there and better seals out there or kits that are better than the oem? and advice would be great. thanks.

My steering box shaft seal also started to leak. I noticed that the shaft was a little loose when moved side to side. The truck also had poor steering response which required a lot of correcting to keep the truck going straight. To correct the steering problem I installed the "Solid Steel Steering Brace". This brace also keeps the steering box shaft from moving out of alignment which seems to keep the seal from leaking. I was planning on rebuilding the steering box but now it does not look like I need to.

JDeereboy. Imgoing to get a solid steel steering brace. Mine isnt to bad and it leaks alittle.

That brace looks like a good idea to keep that steering box bushing from wearing..

How do you like yours. Is your steering tighter?

Tighter indeed.

Glad I nipped it in the bud before it became a real problem.

Still wanders a bit, but nowhere as bad as it did before.
I think my steering stabilizer shock is shot.

I've had my DSS on for just about 3 weeks now.

Anything but the cheap Skyjacker one that came with my lift.
I've heard good things about the Skyjacker ones,
but I'm pretty sure it is a different model than they include with the lifts.

I would go with the Rancho...have heard good things about them. I bgt to Skyjacker and would not again. Very weak and mushy, IMO.

Rancho lists the correct part # as RS5403, but have heard others say they installed the RS5404? Anyone know for sure?

I second the positive comments on the DSS...outstanding!

If your steering box gets really bad...have heard excellent reports about these guys in Dallas area...

www.solidsteel.biz is the home site.

They don't sell direct, but have a list of vendors down here in the lower 48.

I got mine from Rip Rook http://www.sourceautomotive.biz, great to deal with, shipped quickly.
