Pep Boys Futura Tires...
Gents,

I was hoping that someone had some experience with the Futura tires that Pep Boys sells. I was looking at some Dakota LT's 285/75's, D rated. I have BFG A/T 285/75's on the truck right now and they've got about 5K left I'd say and I'm not real impressed with how long they lasted. The Futuras have a 50K waranty on them too for $92 and change.

http://www.pepboys.com/tires_wheels/...uv/dakota.html

I had some Futuras (245/50ZR16) on a set of used wheels I got for the Buick (obviously passenger tires). Actually there were 2 futuras and 2 Michelin Pilot XGT Z4's. The guy I got the wheels from said the pilots were newer than the futuras. The pilots lasted about 3 trips to the track (long before I got slicks for the car) before they showed noticeable wear. I then rotated the futuras to the back and they lasted probably 13-15 trips before they showed as much wear as the pilots did.

I was hoping that the futuras would hold up half as well on the truck as they did with hellish abuse I gave the car Futura's...

Anyone?

Wow, that Futura Enforcer M/T Truck & SUV Tire looks pretty nice. I'm looking around for some 235/85R16's for my Ram (I have 215s now
). And these aren't a bad price.

I'm also interested to see if anyone has any experience with them.
These trucks are so heavy, I don't know if I would trust cheap tires... Although, the 92 4x4 CTD I had wore a set of factory Goodyear Wranglers out in 15000 miles. I rotated them and got the same out of the other two. The funny thing was that it wore the rear tires and not the front!!!!!??????

I have run Pep Boys tires....they have good prices on 4 tire buys but have found they don't wear well...the ratings are C,D,E which are industry standards its just the tread rubber must be softer and wears faster....I have not used their tires on a truck yet only on trailers
Re:Pep Boys Futura Tires...
I have a pair of Futuras.... I got them free with half tread..my son worked at a Good Year store and they were 'trade-ins'....
Anyway, they are not very good..actually they suck. They have crappy traction, even though they appear aggressive. I think they are too hard or something.
I've used them on the rear for summer, to help prolong the life of my winter tires, and they are lousy in the rain, I can tell you that.
If it were me, I would save my $$ and buy some good quality tires. I won't put these tires back on my truck...I'll keep them mounted in case of emergency until it's time to replace my good tires.
Don't mean to knock them, but there are many better brands out there. Hope this helps....
Jay
Thats funny, Im going to go get my third set put on in about a week. For the price and what I do - I cant beat it. 4 tires installed on the back of my daully for $398.

I believe their made by Cooper.

I'll be @ 308,000+ miles by the end of the week. These tires have been good to me.
Re:Pep Boys Futura Tires...
I've never run futuras on either of my trucks, but my Camaro had em on all four corners when i got it, tread still in decent shape too. Didn;t take too long at all to were em out.. they were 235-55-15, z rated directionals. I doubt they were on there for more than 20k miles all told. Switched to BFG Radial TA and so far have put 30k on em and can;t even tell. I've run BFG Radial All Terrain on my trucks in the past and been real happy with em.
-Dave

I had futura tires on my rail trailer and they threw the tread on two separate trips to the dunes. Dealer said that was normal for the tire and would not warranty. Last trip to pepboys for tires.
