P0122 and TPS
P0122 and TPS
I am having periodic P0122 codes on my 02 Dodge. I am not having any of the other symptoms that are usually the case (at least from my reading on this forum). I've done the manual APPS reset a couple times, but within a day or so it will throw another code. I don't think I am technically saive enough to try the voltage calibration talked about on here. Is there anything else I can try to do to eliviate this problem.
Again...no symptoms of a problem other than the CEL and code. Seems to throw the code after the truck has been sitting in 90+ degree weather. Truck is not under warranty, so if there are simpleton things I can try before taking it to a shop I'd like to try those.

I guess you have two choices. Do nothing until you get symptoms or replace the APPS now. I had a P0121 with bucking and jerking so I just went ahead and replaced the APPS. If you were to replace it, there is no need to take it to a shop, it's a driveway install and you can get a replacement off the web for much cheaper than the dealership will charge.
If I'm not mistaken, someone chime in here, there is a cable that operates the APPS. This cable sometimes stretches and the return spring fatigues over time. This results in the APPS having an inconsistent "home" position.
I would make sure that the APPS returns to the home position, in a consistent manner. Then perform the reset routine one more time. It might be bad, but its worth a shot.
You may also want to search on the test procedure. If you have a multimeter, there may be a way you can verify the APPS function by taping a multimeter to the windshield so you can watch the meter from in the cab, putting the leads on a terminal from the APPS, and watching the meter while hitting the peddle. It probably uses some sort of resistance by which you would be able to view with the OHMS meter. If anything the home position should always read the same, and WOT should also read the same each time.
I have not tested my APPS my self, but I've performed tests like this on other similar devices/sensors (assuming it uses resistance to sense position).
good luck
