son's on the road delivering carriages on our new 46' deck gooseneck trailer. called in yesterday saying truck was unstable on wet roads when trailer hit big puddles and called in today saying truck was overheating. went up to 210 on gauge couple times and the check engine light came on?
egt's 900 fuel pressure 11 lbs driving 60 mph 1700 rpm flat lands (i 40) thru Texas towards NM AZ CA MT and SD
just hd cooling system flushed before he left and also just installed the 300 injectors before he left.

There are a couple of recent threads about the breather bottle overflowing. The oil from the breather bottle gets spread all over the back of the radiator by the fan and picks up crud, which causes overheating.

maybe the system has some air in it after the flush and did not get filled completely. did he check the level?

That would be my guess. It is sometimes difficult on certain vehicles to completely purge all the air out.

Well you've seem to hit the basics so the next I would try is installing a thermostat and make sure the clutch fan works. It wasn't overheating while he was pulling in the rain you mentioned was it?

I went camping in west Texas last week saw temperature rise over the 200 degree mark(towing 8500lbs). My buddy and his family were driving in their ctd pulling a trailer and got same temps. Ambient temperature 100 +. Coolant temperatures may not be a problem. 210 doesnt sound to high for pulling a trailer in 100 degree heat. Dont know about check engine light.

Could be the auto tranny adding lots of heat to the equation too.

Would a tranny alarm trip the check engine light?

210 is nothing. if it was you would have to drive around arizona in the summer.

well he is sitting in a motel waiting for Monday to come around so he can get it towed to a chrysler dealership in Tuscon. (anyone familiar with good/bad dealerships there? )
started thowing oil from somewhere and has lost it's power. down about 3/4 of a qt but oil is all over the front of the trailer and the engine compartment. also said the exhaust manifold is broken. was watching egt gauge and said was holding a pretty steady 900 degrees
oil pressure is good but turbo gauge is not showing any reading.
says truck does not have enough power to pull itself into dealership (about 40 miles out) even with trailer unhooked? got 82000 miles on her.
