overheating

Truck is an 02 with 60,000 miles, 5 sp with EZ and 275 injectors. Coming
back from California to Oregon with 11,000 lb 5th wheel in tow this week
truck would run about 220 degrees on all the passes. It was about 72 degrees
outside temp. wouldn't pull more than 27 lbs boast.
Would a 180 thermostat help or any other ideas ????

You made it work very hard, and she got hot. Why worry? Does she overheat under normal loads? Passes are hard no matter what...

Look on the engine side of your radiator. I bet it is packed full of dirt and oil from the blowby bottle. Take off the shroud and soak it with a degreaser. Then spray it with a med pressure hose.
Someone on here made a tool from copperline. It is the cats you know what.

But if it just started doing that, or gradually doing that, I bet it's not the gauge. gauge will usually be the last thing to cause it.
