I don't know that I HAD to, on my 99, but the piece of mind was well worth it. I would do it on any truck older than 2000. It just doesn't make sense not to, since it will cost a heck of a lot more if you drop that pin.

If I ever do a cam swap I'll probably tab it then, but until then I'm not worried about it.. I've been on this site for a while now and don't recall ever reading about KDP problem on a 24 valve truck..
