Re:Oil Preasure

Mine always stays at about 60 at idle and goes up to around 75-80 when I'm really pushing it. Did you use the correct weight of oil? I don't think it's anything to worry about. If it was too high it would have blown the oil filter gasket out..
One time Motorhead and I built a HP 360 engine for my 64 Valiant convertible and we put a Hi-vol oil pump in it and also bought a hi-pressure spring. Well we tried putting the retaining cap, which holds the spring in, in backwards to create more pressure. Well we fired it up and that needle on the guage flew all the way to the other side of the guage and then the oil filter gasket blew apart. Needless to say, I had a well-lubed chassis. I guess it is possible to have too much oil pressure..... ;D

Re:Oil Preasure

Was the engine cold? When cold your oil pressure will be higher.

Re:Oil Preasure

My oil pressure runs just shy of 40 when warm, runs a little higher when pulling and much higher when cold. I run rotella oil.
Derek
