Oil Preasure
Oil Preasure
Hey, I had my oil changed about 1000 miles ago, tonight i just happened to look down and the OP was up to the 3rd line, like around 80 or so what could of caused this? its sitting in the drive way for a while till i can figure this one out haha
thanks
nate
Re:Oil Preasure
Mine always stays at about 60 at idle and goes up to around 75-80 when I'm really pushing it. Did you use the correct weight of oil? I don't think it's anything to worry about. If it was too high it would have blown the oil filter gasket out..
One time Motorhead and I built a HP 360 engine for my 64 Valiant convertible and we put a Hi-vol oil pump in it and also bought a hi-pressure spring. Well we tried putting the retaining cap, which holds the spring in, in backwards to create more pressure. Well we fired it up and that needle on the guage flew all the way to the other side of the guage and then the oil filter gasket blew apart. Needless to say, I had a well-lubed chassis.
I guess it is possible to have too much oil pressure..... ;D

Re:Oil Preasure
mine runs at the 3rd line all the time, even when the motor is off and the key is on ???. yes i think i have a problem with the sender or the guage. but it is great to have instant oil preasure
