What steps to change oil pan on 2001 ram 2500 diesel

 

The cross member is going to be your biggest challenge. I would say no problem if you have a cherry picker and can lift the engine up a few inches so the pan can clear. This was an easy way to do it, but is very dangerous. A guy up the road lost his hand as the hydraulics failed in his cherry picker and his hand was crushed between the pan and the motor. He was trying to remove the two bolts that hold the oil pickup tube.

The proper way(safe) to do it.. remove the front from the truck and pull the motor. Maybe fabricate a removable cross member?

 

can motor be lifted up from below with a jack and special fixture to do this?
