Oil Leak
Oil Leak
Ive got an 01 Ram with a Cummins. It has an oil leak on both sides of the oil pan area. Its not the pan,Im pretty sure of that. On the drivers side it seems to be from the hoses/lines down low between the motor and the radiator. This appears to be oil. On the passenger side along the pan ,is a drip, it appears to be red/like trans fluid. Is there a common problem I should try to narrow it down to?On either side? And how difficult is the fix? Thanks in advance. The truck has 230000 miles on it and it runs great.
On the oil leak in the front, do you still have the puke bottle for the crankcase ventilation? If so, there is a cheap mod to help that. If not, is that hose for the bottle hanging there, not going below the track bar? I ran a 3/4 heater hose from that barb, to below the trackbar, and solved the 'oily motor' issue. If this has already been done, clean and check the timing cover.
If its red its most likley trans cooler lines common for them to rub a hole in from vibration clean it up and check it out could have a hole on both sides of the engine you might need to replace the lines. If you do make sure there secured real good and tight
