Oil Leak

I'm about to go look under the truck to see if i can find the leak. It's consuming a lot of oil and the front driveshaft, tranny pan, and oil pan are all soaked in oil. I hope it's just an oil pan gasket. Is there anything I should know as far as parts that are prone to failure causing leaks like the KDP of oil leaks or something.

My oil pan used to leak from the pan gasket, all that was wrong was that the pan bolts were loose, snugged them up.been dry now over 50,000miles also the drain plug is known to "crack" if you over tighten it

If those 3 things are covered with oil, and your oil level is dropping. I suspect either pan gasket or you have excessive blow by. Go around and tighten all the oil pan gaskets and go from there. After doing so maybe spray the underside down with brake clean, clean it all up then drive for a bit and re-check.

Make sure it's not all coming from a leaking crankshaft seal at the front of the engine.

rear main possibly?
best thing to do, as already mentioned is clean it all up and go from there. Don't know how many oil leaks I've gone out on calls for OTR trucks and it's never an easy task if it isn't cleaned up good. I'd also take a close look at the puke bottle, the previous owner of my truck didn't bolt it back to the engine and the belt rubbed a hold in it...oil everywhere

I would think a cummins dealer would sell it. And some high temp RTV should hold ya over till you can find one

A veteran Dodge tech told me that "torquing" the bolts on the oil pan is a necessary mntc item if you don't want it to leak. Anybody know if its true that you have to pull the tranny to change the oil pan gasket?
